Shawn graduated from Lakehead University’s Faculty of Law in 2016 as part of the Law School’s charter class. He also has a Bachelor of Environmental Studies in Environment and Resource Studies from the University of Waterloo, and a Journalism Diploma from the London School of Journalism in London, England. He was called to the bar in 2016.
During his time at law school Shawn specialized in Aboriginal Law, including being a member of Lakehead’s first Kawaskimhon Aboriginal Law moot team, and was a member of the Indigenous Law Students Association.

Shawn is developing a legal career in Aboriginal Law, environmental law and northern legal issues. He also works in labour and employment law.

A former journalist in the Northwest Territories and northern Alberta and the former editor of Wawatay News in northern Ontario, Shawn has experience with northern issues and First Nations across the country. He is passionate about northern development, and ensuring that local people and communities have control over how development of the north takes place.
